Barb Sundquist

Barb Sundquist is a highly respected board director and accomplished executive, with a track record of success across sustainability, operations, technology, risk, compliance, finance, and stakeholder relations.

She currently serves as Director on the ATB Community Foundation and on the Sustainability Advisory Committee of ATB Financial. In 2025, Barb received her first public appointment to the Reporting and Assurance Standards Oversight Council Advisory Board, responsible for establishing and maintaining standards on accounting, auditing, and sustainability disclosures to serve the public interest.

Considered as a highly strategic and forward-thinking executive within both the public and private sectors, Barb has earned a reputation for developing and executing innovative strategies and operational transformations that deliver enterprise value creation.

For the past 15 years at ATB Financial, Barb has progressively advanced through the organization and amassed significant cross-functional executive experience. In her current role as Vice President, Sustainability & Impact, she leads the organization’s overall strategy designed to transform enterprise processes, behaviours, and culture, and to deliver upon public commitments, inclusive of governance frameworks, disclosure, and reporting.

Deeply committed to lifelong learning and professional development, Barb has earned her Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction, two certifications from Competent Boards, and the Governance Essentials Program from ICD-Rotman. Additionally, she has completed numerous executive educational certifications, including Machine Learning, AI, Indigenous Reconciliation, and Human Resources for Board Committees.
