The CSSB’s first Annual Plan focuses on finalizing and approving the proposed Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards (CSDS). This plan outlines our work for the year, including the development of a multi-year strategic plan and a workplan that reinforces our commitment to involving Indigenous Peoples, communities, organizations, and leaders in our standard-setting process. Read our inaugural Annual Plan to understand how we will drive the implementation of CSDS and continue to advance our sustainability disclosure goals.

The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) Consultation Paper, Proposed Criteria for Modification Framework, is now open for comment. The Paper sets out how the Board proposes to introduce changes, if required, to IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards for use in Canada. Submit your comments to the CSSB by June 10, 2024

The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) will launch a public consultation to advance the adoption of sustainability standards in Canada. In March 2024, three key documents will be issued for public comment that will shape Canada's first sustainability standards: drafts of the proposed CSDS 1 and CSDS 2, and a paper discussing how the CSSB proposes to introduce changes to IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards for use in Canada. We will offer opportunities to share feedback in a variety of ways.

Representatives of the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) and the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) held their inaugural bilateral meeting on January 9, 2024, in Montreal, Canada. The Boards provided updates on their respective activities and discussed agenda items such as issues related to the implementation of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards). The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) grows in strength – with the appointment of three new members – and meets with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in Montreal on September 14-15, 2023. In addition to fostering its relationship with the international board, the CSSB will discuss its strategy to support the uptake of IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and S2 Climate-related Disclosures in Canada.
