Do you want to advise the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) on how public sector accounting standards can better serve First Nation, Métis, and Inuit (Indigenous) governments, their organizations and their communities?
Do you want to collaborate with other Indigenous representatives to provide Indigenous perspectives to PSAB?
If so, PSAB needs you on its Indigenous Advisory Group!
The Board is currently seeking financial professionals who are Indigenous or have extensive experience working with Indigenous governments and organizations.
About the Indigenous Advisory Group
The purpose of the Indigenous Advisory Group (the Group) is to help PSAB better understand Indigenous insights, issues, and perspectives related to financial and other reporting in Indigenous governments and their organizations. These organizations include Indigenous government business enterprises and Indigenous government-not-for-profit organizations.
The Group will help enhance PSAB’s collaboration with Indigenous communities and support the development of public sector accounting standards that better meet the needs of Indigenous governments and organizations across Canada.
Most members of the Group are expected to identify as Indigenous. Where possible, diversity will be achieved through representation from a variety of Indigenous communities with different sizes, geographic locations, and governance structures.
Why volunteer?
- Be heard – bring Indigenous perspectives to areas relevant to public sector accounting standards and learn about the potential impacts of these topics on Indigenous governments and organizations.
- Be connected – connect with other Indigenous representatives committed to ensuring their financial statements provide good financial accountability to their communities.
- Learn from each other – broaden your understanding of how Indigenous governments and organizations are reporting and the issues they are facing.
- Be a resource – share your knowledge and experience with other Indigenous representatives and PSAB to help inform the Board’s work.
