The Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) is seeking a new Chair to lead its strategic direction and uphold its commitment to serving the public interest. The current Chair, Clyde MacLellan, will retire on March 31, 2026, following nine years of dedicated service on the Board, including six years as Chair.
PSAB establishes the accounting standards for Canada’s public sector, published in the CPA Canada Public Sector Accounting Handbook. The Chair plays a pivotal role in guiding the Board’s work, ensuring the integrity and independence of the standard-setting process.
As the PSAB Chair, you will be a respected and visible leader in the public sector accounting community. You will work closely with the PSAB Director, staff, volunteer Board, committee members, international organizations (including the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board), and interested and affected parties in Canada.
This is a remunerated, part-time role requiring a minimum commitment of 1,100 hours per year. The initial term is three to five years, with the possibility of renewal. The Chair is appointed by the Reporting and Assurance Standards Oversight Council, which serves the public interest by overseeing and providing input to PSAB’s activities.
Independently established financial reporting standards are critical to promoting confidence in Canada’s public sector entities.
