The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) works to advance the adoption of sustainability disclosure standards in Canada. The CSSB develops Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards (CSDS) that align with the global baseline standards developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) – but with modifications to serve the Canadian public interest.

Leadership Transition

The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) is undergoing a leadership change. Charles-Antoine St-Jean is transitioning from his role as Chair, and an Interim Chair has been appointed.

November 30, 2023 CSSB Decision Summary – July to November 2023

The CSSB held its initial meetings from July to November 2023. It focused on setting up operations and advancing the adoption of sustainability disclosure standards in Canada – developing the first Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards to be released for public comment in March 2024.

CSSB Annual Plan 2024 – 2025

The CSSB’s first Annual Plan focuses on finalizing and approving the proposed Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards (CSDS). This plan outlines our work for the year, including the development of a multi-year strategic plan and a workplan that reinforces our commitment to involving Indigenous Peoples, communities, organizations, and leaders in our standard-setting process. Read our inaugural Annual Plan to understand how we will drive the implementation of CSDS and continue to advance our sustainability disclosure goals.

Leadership Transition at the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB)

The CSSB announces a transition in its leadership. Charles-Antoine St-Jean is transitioning from his position as Chair. Bruce Marchand will be interim Chair.
