Strategic Plan

Strategic plans set out the strategic priorities that will guide the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) in achieving its public interest mandate over a multi-year period. The CSSB decides on strategic priorities after extensive consultation.

Implementation plans to execute these strategic priorities are described in the CSSB’s annual plans.

CSSB’s 2025-2028 Strategic Plan

The 2025-2028 Strategic Plan has been finalized. After receiving considerable feedback and assessing the current landscape for Canadian sustainability disclosure, the Board has set three priorities for the duration of the plan. Thank you to everyone who provided comments on the proposed plan.

The priorities are:

Priority A – Establishing the CSSB as the reference source for Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards and supporting their implementation.

Priority B – Including Indigenous Peoples in sustainability disclosure standard setting.

Priority C – Contributing to the development of international sustainability disclosure standards.

The Board applies its Criteria for Assessing Strategic Priorities (page 9 of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan) to help guide project selection. These criteria ensure that all projects undertaken align with the Board’s strategic priorities and support the ongoing public interest mandate.
