Fred Pries is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Business at the University of Guelph, where he taught accounting, entrepreneurship, and innovation management.
Prior to joining the academic community, Fred had significant experience as a Partner in the Department of Professional Practice—Auditing & Accounting at KPMG Canada. In that role, he applied auditing, assurance, and independence standards, and he led policy development for 20 years. His work included audits of large and small entities in the manufacturing, construction, government, and not-for-profit sectors, and advising engagement teams on complex auditing, accounting, and special reporting issues.
Fred was a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2012 to 2018, and was its Vice Chair from 2016 to 2018.
Fred holds a PhD in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo.
