AcSB and CSSB Meet Japanese Counterparts to Advance Global Accounting and Sustainability Standards

The Chairs of Canada’s Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) and Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) met with their Japanese counterparts, the Accounting Standards Board (ASBJ) and Sustainability Standards Board (SSBJ), in Toronto on January 12, 2026. They shared updates on their boards’ activities, discussed how national standard setters can support the IASB and ISSB respectively, and explored opportunities for continued collaboration with the IFRS Foundation to advance high-quality, globally aligned accounting and sustainability disclosure standards. CSSB 2025-2028 Strategic Plan and Feedback Statement

The CSSB 2025–2028 Strategic Plan has been finalized after extensive consultation and assessment of Canada’s sustainability disclosure landscape. The Board’s three priorities are: establishing the CSSB as the reference source for Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards and supporting their implementation; including Indigenous Peoples in sustainability disclosure standard setting; and contributing to international standards.
