Dan Stadlwieser was appointed Controller for the Government of Alberta in 2017. He leads the provision of corporate accounting and financial management services to support all departments. He also leads and supports cross-departmental initiatives related to transformation and modernization of financial services as the Controller and Co-chair of the Senior Financial Officer Council.

Dan previously served as the Chief Internal Auditor for the Government of Alberta’s Corporate Internal Audit Services. He was responsible for overseeing the provision of assurance and advisory services to all departments.

Prior to joining the Government of Alberta, Dan worked for the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. He worked on federal, Territorial, and international engagements. His responsibilities included leading both value-for-money and financial audits, including audits of the Public Accounts of the Government of the Northwest Territories and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) agency engagements in Paris. He was also the team lead of the audit of balances used in the creation of Nunavut.

Dan has a bachelor of commerce from the University of Alberta.
