The Accounting Standards Oversight Council (AcSOC) is seeking
new members to appoint to the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB).
Are you interested in contributing to accounting standard setting in Canada? Do you want to help in ensuring that the standards remain relevant to stakeholders?
The AcSB has an ambitious work program to address all categories of reporting entities and is looking for experienced individuals who:
- are committed to the AcSB’s strategic direction;
- have a broad vision;
- possess an understanding of accounting concepts; and
- are able to anticipate the implications of proposed standards.
AcSOC maintains a balance of different backgrounds and perspectives amongst the AcSB’s members. AcSOC is currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals who:
- are users of financial statements; and
- are preparers of financial statements using Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
Being bilingual is an asset.
This demanding but rewarding volunteer role involves a minimum time commitment of approximately 300 hours a year, including:
- preparation and meeting time; and
- opportunities to represent the AcSB by conducting presentations and stakeholder outreach.
The AcSB normally meets face-to-face in Toronto seven times per year and at other times by conference call, unless additional face-to-face discussions are warranted. The time commitment excludes travel.
The appointment is effective April 1, 2019 for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewing for a second term.
The position is unpaid. Travel and other relevant costs are reimbursed. The AcSB’s working language is English.
Expressions of interest should be submitted by January 28, 2019.
