About the Task Force

The Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) established the Compilation Engagements Task Force in 2015 to provide advice on its project to revise Section 9200, Compilation Engagements.

Role & Responsibilities

The role and responsibilities of the Task Force includes the following:

  • Identifying key issues in the Canadian environment related to compilation engagements.
  • Considering alternatives and developing positions on issues to recommend to the AASB.
  • Assisting the AASB with stakeholder consultations.
  • Drafting a revised Compilation Engagements standard for the AASB to consider.
  • Developing the exposure draft for approval by the AASB.
  • Analyzing stakeholder responses to the exposure draft and providing recommendations to the AASB to address feedback on the proposed Compilation Engagements standard. 
  • Drafting the proposed final standard for the AASB to consider.
  • Assisting the AASB in identifying implementation risks and possible responses to those risks.
  • Providing input on implementation guidance.

Meetings

The Task Force meets privately and in-person approximately four times a year, and by conference call on an as-needed basis.

The results of Task Force meetings serve as the basis for agenda papers presented to the AASB when the Compilation Engagement project is on its meeting agenda.

Membership

The Task Force consists of:

  • a current AASB member who acts as Chair;
  • 2 members from large accounting firms;
  • 2 members from small to medium-sized practices;
  • 2 sole practitioners; and
  • 2 observers from the provincial accounting bodies.
