Volunteer Opportunity – AcSB Insurance Transition Resource Group

Do you have an in-depth knowledge of accounting for insurance contracts?

Are you interested in helping express Canadian views at a global level?

If so, apply to the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) to volunteer for its Insurance Transition Resource Group.

This Group will assist any Canadian member(s) appointed to the IASB® IFRS Transition Resource Group for IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts by providing Canadian-specific views, insights, analysis and background on implementation issues to ensure the Canadian perspective is reflected.  The AcSB Group will also discuss implementation issues arising in Canada, including issues for which it has received submissions from the public.

Who we need

The AcSB is seeking members with a variety of backgrounds including preparers, actuaries, users and accounting practitioners. Members could be from insurance companies, financial institutions and other entities that issue life or property and casualty insurance contracts, and/or reinsurance contracts, or those individuals that have experience with such entities, including smaller insurers.

Requirements

Members are expected to have an in-depth knowledge of the accounting for insurance contracts and the application of the relevant financial reporting requirements in practice.

Commitment

The Group will meet approximately one week prior to each meeting of the IASB® IFRS Transition Resource Group to share views with its Canadian members on the issues it will discuss.

The working language of the AcSB’s Group is English.

To apply, send a current resumé to Jesse McLinton, at jmclinton@acsbcanada.ca, by September 14, 2017.
