AASB Response – Monitoring Group Consultation Paper, Strengthening the Governance and Oversight of the International Audit-related Standard-setting Boards in the Public Interest
March 2, 2018. This month, the AASB responded to the Monitoring Group’s consultation paper, which sets out options that have the potential to dramatically reform the global audit standard-setting process. Our response outlines in detail our observations on the proposals, noting both areas we support and those that should be re-examined.
AASOC Updates Terms of Reference
February 2, 2018. At its November 9-10, 2017 meeting, AASOC approved revised Terms of Reference, which were updated following a joint review of the activities of AASOC and AcSOC. The Terms of Reference of both Councils are now more closely aligned and reflect current oversight procedures.

January 24, 2018. Via conference call, AASOC will approve the AASB’s 2018-2019 Operating Plan, two new Canadian standards, receive an update from the Nominating and Governance Committee, and review the draft AASOC response to the Monitoring Group’s paper.
Media Release – AASOC Announces New AASB Chair
November 24, 2017. Ken Charbonneau, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D, was appointed by AASOC as the new AASB Chair, effective April 1, 2018. Recently retired from KPMG as Partner, Assurance, Ken has more than 40 years of business experience to bring to his new role.

Minutes of Meeting – July 6, 2017
August 31, 2017. At a public meeting in Toronto, AASOC discussed auditor reporting and other AASB projects, the Monitoring Group’s review of international standard-setting and oversight processes, and the CPAB and PIOB 2016 public reports.
AASOC 2016-2017 Annual Report – Reflecting on the Past for a Better Tomorrow
August 21, 2017. The theme of this year’s Annual Report was inspired by the reflection AASOC undertook as it reached its 15th year since inception. The Council took time to consider what’s best for its stakeholders moving forward, and saw the culmination of a number of initiatives.
