The AASB discussed issues related to developing its strategic plan for 2016-2021 including:

  • what has changed in the Canadian and global environments since the last strategic plan was developed; and
  • whether there are any current issues, initiatives or topics being addressed by other organizations, domestically or internationally, that may have a significant effect on Canadian standards or stakeholders, or that may significantly affect the AASB’s strategic planning.

The AASB decided that its next strategic planning period would cover five years to match the strategic planning period of the IAASB.

The AASB also decided that initial discussions would be held with key stakeholders prior to drafting an invitation to comment on the strategic plan.
